Jobs and training opportunities
Not ready for an apprenticeship?
You could start on a Foundation Learning programme.
You will:
- start working towards a qualification
- improve your functional skills
- develop confidence and personal effectiveness for interviews
- get help with job hunting, applying for jobs and going for interviews
You will need to have an interview with your Adviser if you want to go on a Foundation Learning course.
Finding a job to suit you will involve using a number of sources:
- your local access point, One Stop Shop or youth centre may have details of vacancies available locally and in central London. You could also visit the London vacancy website, www.lois.uk.net to see the range of opportunities available.
- the internet (uses your search skills or ask your Adviser for tips).
- local newspapers.
- talking to family and friends.
- writing to employers who are not currently advertising (this is called a speculative application).
Resource Companion and Career Companion (Go to www.cfbt.com/resourcecompanion for details of how to access). This is available if you live or study in Ealing, Harrow, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon or Hounslow.
